VanDusen Botanical Garden

Guys, there’s a gorgeous botanical garden in Vancouver. Obvs it has made it on the list. Because yes, hiking in the forest, getting a little down and dirty with nature, working those muscles, becoming one with the mountain, I’m all for it. But there is definitely something to be said for spending an afternoon strolling peacefully on beautifully-manicured lawns, enjoying carefully planted flowerbeds and painstakingly tended shrubbery. Dundarave Village

This place looks absolutely delightful. It’s a little seaside escape in West Vancouver, where you can find boutique shopping, coffee houses, antiquing opportunities, and more! They’ve even got a Farmer’s Market every Saturday from spring to autumn. The Dundarave Business Association works with the Municipality of West Vancouver and Council to ensure that the village retains its old-fashioned charm, and safe, local vibe. I imagine it would be a great place for certain business development services. It seems like a great place to go if you’re not really into the hustle and bustle of city life, and would rather relax with an ice cream cone on the pier as you watch the ships come in and out. Time for a fun fact! Dundarave Pier is the site of the original ferry landing, so ten points to the pier for being both beautiful and historically relevant.

And as much as I would love to talk about all of them, I only have so much space on these blog posts (well, until you guys start getting bored of reading about forest trails), and I promised I’d just do four attractions per city. So. Because the activities featured here are all potentially going to be done as part of a rail trip, I imagine that a. I won’t have a ton of equipment with me, and b. I’ll be pretty poor and thus unable to rent a whole lot of stuff (like all kinds of camping equipment). All this taken into consideration, I’ve decided that the activity in which I would most likely take part is the simple yet beautiful hike.
